Visitor uploads

Crowdsourcing photos and videos through Instagram and email is a popular feature of Shootitlive.

In addition you can also have a upload form, where your visitors can upload media to your site.
You can choose to have those media files go straight live into your Shootitlive player or to end up unpublished in your project (requiring a click to publish)

Have a look at how Svensk Jakt have implemented a upload box, using the Shootitlive API over at http://svenskjakt.se/jakt-prylar/lasarnas-jakter/dela-med-dig-av-din-algjakt/

Then you can head over to the Shootitlive Web Upload API Demo (and look at the source for that page)

You’re free to use anything from the “Shootitlive Web Upload API Demo” page to implement our Upload API on your own site. We recommend using the jQuery File Upload, since it has already worked out a lot of quirks related to cross-browser compatibility and CORS (i.e. submitting a POST request through XMLHttpRequest)

  • Create sub-galleries on the fly
  • New, improved ad-format
  • Connect your own analytics

Sidebar
When your visitors hover or interact with the player it will expand with a sidebar showcasing your most popular Shootitlive galleries.
It’s all about visitor engagement. During our beta, video and image views increased with 10%.

Sub-galleries
During a live event, you can choose the best images and videos to create new galleries on the fly.
As live events tend to get huge and include many, many images and videos. It can be hard for the visitor to find the best ones. When you create a new gallery with highlights, the new gallery will be visible in the sidebar.

New ad-format
For Shootitlive customers displaying advertisements in the player, you’ll be glad to know we got rid of the old overlay format and replaced it with the much improved sidebar format.

Feedback from customers as well as advertisers tells us this is a hit. Ads are always in screen and being just next to the content, visitors pay more attention to the ads. If you’re interested to start monetizing your content, don’t hesitate to ping us at hello@shootitlive.com

API and 3rd party app integration

With the release of Shootitlive 2.0 we also released the ability to integrate external apps with Shootitlive by using our API.

Icemanmedia’s Openstore is a editorial image and media system, were editorial staff can browse and download photos archived by their photographers and photos from external picture agencies. Openstore have customers such as Aftonbladet, Expressen, SVT and the Swedish Police.

Openstore users can now, with a click of a button, send photos from Openstore to their feeds at Shootitlive and have the photos published on the sites within seconds. This will save newspapers a great deal of time, especially while providing live coverage of remote events with material from picture agencies.

Openstore were able to integrate with Shootitlive in just one working day. Contact us at hello@shootitlive.com if you want to integrate your app with Shootitlive.

If you don’t already have a Shootitlive account, you should request one here

Let the live publishing begin!

Picture of the week S01E02

What a week this has been!
This week has really been serving us with a number of highlights and many amazing photos. To name a few we have Marit Bjørgen who made history by taking three WC gold medals in a row. Petter Northug completely humiliated Marcus Hellner by slowing down and crossing the finish line sideways. Petter really is an impressive athlete and a brilliant showman!

Our Finnish friends Iltalehti and Ilta-Sanomat, brought us the Miss Finland 2011 gala. Aftonbladet, Expressen and DN took us behind the scenes of Mellodifestivalen.

But this week’s picture is when Canada took their first ever men´s cross country gold medal.

Devon Kershaw and Alex Harvey took Canada's first World Championship gold in men's cross country. Alex Harvey sprinted down Ola Vigen Hattestad and silenced the home crowd at the finish line.

This photo was a part of Dagbladet’s Ski WC live coverage. DB.no integrated the Shootitlive json playlist to display photos (live as they were taken) in their custom-built live blog application. Using the Shootitlive API, customers can integrate the feed of photos and video clips into a custom application or a live blog application such as Coveritlive or Scribblelive.

But 99% of our customers are satisfied with using our embedded Media Player – copy & paste FTW:-)
